Our selection philosophy

Less, but selected with intent.

ATHLIX is not a catalog. It is an edit. Every product is here because an athlete on our team chose it over alternatives they had personally rejected. This page explains how.

Curation over catalog

We carry fewer than 80 products per season. Every addition forces a removal. The result is a shelf you can read in five minutes — not five hours.

Performance, measured

We trust lab data, field logs and split times. Marketing copy never enters the selection meeting. If a claim can't be measured, it doesn't make the page.

Independent makers

We work with small ateliers, family workshops and athlete-founded labels. Their incentives are aligned with ours — make the gear right, not loud.

Athlete-tested

Every product is used by our specialists for a full season before it appears. Ultra runners, bike fitters, mountain guides — the same people you read on our guides.

Quality over quantity

We'd rather sell one shoe that lasts three seasons than three shoes that last one. Repairability, durability and serviceability are first-class criteria.

Authentic, always

Sourced direct from the brand or authorised distributors. Every order ships with full provenance. No grey market, no compromises.

Why we avoid massive catalogs

More choice is not the same as a better choice.

Mass-market sports retailers compete on assortment width. Their incentive is to stock everything — and let you sort it out. The result is decision fatigue dressed up as freedom.

We work the other way around. We start from the athlete's question — “what do I actually need to run this 80 km, ride this gravel race, ski this line?” — and we answer it with one or two products we'd stake our own season on.

If you ever feel that a category on ATHLIX is “too small”, that is not a bug. It means we haven't yet found a product worth recommending. We'd rather under-promise than dilute the edit.
